Chaplin’s history

Chaplin became an incorporated village on 8 October 1912. It sits within the Rural Municipality of Chaplin No. 164, on the Trans-Canada Highway between Moose Jaw and Swift Current, roughly 85 kilometres from the first and 90 from the second.

The village lies on the north edge of Chaplin Lake, a body of water covering nearly 20 square miles. Today the main industries are Saskatchewan Minerals and farming and ranching. Chaplin is run by an elected mayor and five councillors.
